Bust out the Red, White and Blue with a Paper Issue's mini Blog Hop!

The new theme is up at Paper Issues and it is all about Picnics and Patriots. Make sure you stop by there is also a mini blog hop featuring layouts with this theme...oh yeah and a prize! When I think of this subject I think of the 4th. of July and bbq's and fireworks. To me these two just go hand in hand. After a day of bbq and bean bags we all head out to see the firework show. I think the kids have more fun here playing around while waiting for the show to start than they do all day. I happen to snap this photo of all them having a little fun and being totally silly. I used We R Memory Keepers Red White and Blue line. I am always pulled in by red white and blue papers and this line did not disappoint! With fun stripes, polka dots and fireworks it just screams patriotic.

The embellishments for this line are amazing...check out this fun pinwheel and flag. Oh and lets not forget the star stick pins...how cool are these!!

Now on to the fun stuff...to win the prize all you need to do is...

Down the Boardwalk with We R Memory Keepers...

Well, summer is finally here I think here in Chicago so I could not think of better way to kick it off than to do a beach themed layout using the We R Memory Keepers Down the Boardwalk line! This line is great with it's warm and breezy feel. The soft earthy toned colors are so different from the normal blues and yellows of most beach lines. I had so much fun working these papers, used some chipboard and decorated it and added some twine to make this cute little banner...
and keeping with the twine, I used my Sew Easy tool and stitched the outline of the wave to give it even more texture...
I used a little Mulberry paper to give the look of sand...
and this is the end result...
To show how much I loved this line I thought I would do a little giveaway so make sure you come back throughout the month...you never know what day this will happen!

    Father's Day card...

Summer is fast approaching now with the kids out of school and the weather finally making up it's mind to stay warm. Along with summer, Father's Day is sneaking around the corner. Today I made a Father's Day card for my husband...he isn't all into the "sappy" and I prefer not to do the "funny" so the Bella! Keepsake line was just the perfect blend of masculinity and carefree feel I was looking for. I love the warm colors (blues and browns are one of my favorite mixes) making this line so easily adaptable to suit whatever style you are looking for.

We R Memory Keepers cards for Operation Write Home!

As you know from my last post...We R Memory Keepers has teamed up with Operation Write Home and while you send in your cards for this wonderful project you can also have the chance to win $1000.00 in WRMK products! How great is that?!?! I was asked to make a special project for WRMK using the Anthologie line. I made a real simple home decor project to display your cards, notes, receipts or photos. I started out using some paint sticks that I got for free at the home improvement store. I then covered them with patterned paper. I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch holes in the paint sticks, which went through just like butter! I then weaved some ribbon through to connect the sticks leaving enough ribbon to double through so I could hang it. If you wanted you could even put magnetic strips on the back so you could hang it on your refrigerator if you were using it for notes or receipts. For the clips I used clothes pins that I sprayed with misting ink, hot glued them where I wanted them and added a few embellishments. This project was simple enough to complete in about a half an hour and makes a great gift also. Thanks for taking the time to stop by...now head on over to WRMK for all the details on Operation Write Home!
